Well i had heard a lot about this book, 5 Point Someone. Its Author is Chetan Bhagat. So i decided to read it. Borrowed it from a friend of mine. It can be compared to Prison Break TV Series, once started reading it, u get hooked onto it.
Tbook is about 3 friends Alok, Hari and Ryan, who are at IIT Delhi and want to enjoy the college life to the fullest. In trying to njoi college life, they screw up their GPA’s bigtime. It was around 5.xx. And thats y the book is named 5 point someone. Their GPA’s are around 5 all through the college life.
The book is written from the view of Hari, who is fat, ugly. Nothing much is told anout him. Ryan, who has spent his life in boarding and only love his friends and hates his parents who stay in Europe for business. They send him dolla cheques just to show their love, writes him letters to whom Ryan never replies. HE good looking and Hari wants to be like him. Alok, is also fat with thick spectacles, his mother being the only earning member in his family, father having paralysis, sister ready to get married due to economic reasons, coz boy asks a lot of dowry. He wants to get a job in delhi and help his family achieve what tey want.
The book tells u what not to do at IIT. The 5 pointers were not considered very good in IIT, they were looked down upon. Most profs didnt evn talked to them properly. The book also shows how its all about Mugging @ IIT and you are not allowed to use ur imagination, evn if u do u r discouraged to do so again. How Alok falls for their HoD’s daughter Neha. How they tried to leak paper of the HoD’s subject so that Hari can get good grades and impress HoD so that Neha can introduce him to his father.
I think its a must read and i m not in he mood to award any rating to any book.. but u must read it. I read it in 4hrs 10mins with some 10 mins break every hour!! Too addictive!!

I somehow read the book in 4 months with breaks of some weeks..The most horrible and kiddish book i’ve ever read..Even his Call Centre book is sh*t

I think one enjoys Five Point Someone more when he has just graduated and is missing college life, and more so because by then you can identify the feeling of vodka with Floyd, which to say the least is heavenly!!

@rahul it all depends on one’s choice… some lke it, some dont… but u r the first one i know who didnt like the bux
