Its official, Rang De Basanti is India’s Official entry for Oscars. It was chosen from 9 other films like Lage Raho Munnabhai, Yun Hota to Kya Hota, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (yuck!!), Omkara, Corporate.
I alwayz supported this movie.. if not this then i think Lage Raho Munnabhai would have been the best entry. Corporate was real slow, Yun Hota to Kya Hota well a different story, but ending screwed it, Omkara is based on shakespere’s play Othello.. so didnt stand much of a chance and Kank, it was definitely a YUCK!! Cant say about other nominees of regional category!!
Well some good newz in the day!!

I liked MunnaBhai more than RDB. RDB is only 9/10 movie and Lage Raho is a 10/10 for me. Omkara was also good with 7.5/10 from my side.
I was more inspired and patriotic after I watched Lage Raho than RDB. Anyways all the best to RDB. Hope they win the award.
By the way, One for the tags is spelt wrong.
I liked Munnabhai and RDB same… but still i feel RDB is a better choice… dont know y!!
and grudgyi didnt see LRM’s review on ur blog
Omkara is more of the “Oscar” material, IMHO.
Anyway, Rang De Basanti is also good nonetheless. It’s a second time lucky for Aamir Khan.
If you noticed, movies with patriotic themes have been lucky for Aamir, be it Lagaan or Rang De Basanti. Makes me wonder if Sarfarosh would’ve been good for Oscar nomination in the 90s. What say?
Sarfarosh wud have definitely won an oscar!! But i think water has more of chances than RDB
I hope atleast this time we get an oscar.
Also rang de basanti deserves it.
Rang De Basanti is a commercial movie with half baked ideas (Ye Banegne, Wo Banenge) with no substance that would only come from students who are wandering around college campus after graduation. Sadly, it is a clever ploy of connecting historical figures to new generation. Writing/Speaking in English itself is a struggle for students all over India. We need mentors/movies that tell exactly how ‘YE BANGENGE and WO BANENGE’, not generalized advices that can reach to people whose self-esteem is low. IT IS A MORONIC DECISION to support such movie.
@huh ahem ahem.. all movies are made for commerial purposes only.. they just induce a msg for ppl!
I think munnabhai would be a better choice for oscars as it truly represents india and indian philosophy to world(non-violence and peace)! Anyway all the best to RDB!!
