Akshardham Temple Trip!!

Fun, Meri Dilli, Mera India, Personal - - Posted on July, 13 at 1:31 pm

We have been planning for this trip to Akshardham Temple since Sunday but due to one reason or the other it alwayz got cancelled but we finally decided to go yesterday, and it was sure very good day!! “We” include Vinayak, Me, Aditya and Vinayak’s Frnds Sourabh and Amit.

It was raining very heavily since morning and water was filled upto knee heights in some areas, due to which there were huge traffic jams. Hail MCD!!! So i was in two minds whether to go or not, but finally decided to go since it had already been postponed much.

We were to meet at Uttam Nagar East station at 1:30 PM, i left home around 12:50 PM, had to give pen drive to Karan, then i proceeded towards Metro Station by Rickshaw. I reached there at 1:05 PM and after that i missed two trains on purpose. Reached Uttam Nagar East at 1:30 PM and Aditya was to meet me at Metro Station and he was there wen i reached, then we had to wait for Vinayak and Amit who reached in 5 mins, then we had to wait for Sourabh who also reached there in 2 mins. So for the first time ever, evrybody was on time!!!

We were to take Bus No. 740 till Lakshmi Nagar and from there Bahari Mudrika till Akshardham Temple. Each one of us bought a one day pass for Rs. 25 for unlimited travel in DTC Buses for a day!! But the bus didnt come for a long time so we decided to go till Dhaula Kuan by Bahari Mudrika and from there board any other bus. Bahari Mudrika goes directly to Akshardham but it takes a very very long route. But just then Vinayak enquired about Bus no. 740 timings and they said it will come in 15 mins, so we decided to wait, but just then the bus arrived.

We did lot of talking and Ho-Hungama in the bus. Also i didnt let Aditya sleep!! We reached Lakshmi Nagar around 3:30 PM. We boarded Mudrika then and we missed Akshardham Bus Stop and on enquiring conductor told that we have missed and immediately get down. We all got down with bus moving at 40 KM/Hr. Crossed the road and we reached there at 4:00 PM. Entry was free, NO ELECTRONICS ITEMS are allowed inside including MOBILES. They have provided good facilities to keep belongings. While going insie, u have to remove all things except ur clothes, keep them on a tray, carry it with you, pass through Security Checks and on reaching other side, u can have them back.

First there’s a hall whichhas info about the temple. Wat all is there to see, history and the approximate time needed to view all the things. On exiting, we see large Padchinhas of god made of marble with 16 signs in which god is worshipped embedded on them. After that there is the Bharat Upvan on the left side and on the right Side there is The Mandir. We first decided to goto Garden first, but then decided to goto Mandir first. Only while going in Mandir u have to remove ur shoes. But after removing them, we didnt wear them until it was time to go.

Mandir had a beatutiful carvings, all different with statues of gods made of marble and SwamiNarayana’s made of gold (i think). Its carved details of flora, fauna, dancers, musicians and Gods covering its surfaces from top to bottom are awesome. Mandir is shown as if its elephants are supporting its foundation. Akshardham Delhi is the biggest hand carved structure in the world.

Then on one side of the Mandir, there is The Yagnapurush Kund, where at night Musical Fountain and Light Show at 8:00 PM takes place. The kund is is in the form of steps, which is very beautiful in itself.

The other side of the mandir had Premvati AharGruh which is the only eatery place inside the premises. The food was awful. Me and Aditya ordered Cholle Bhathure. On eating, they looked more of Papad with Boiled Cholle with a pinch of salt. Vinayak, Sourabh and Amit ordered Pakodas. There were made completely of Besan even the filling with one pea thrown inside the core. We also bought two bottles of water.

While going towards Premvati AharGruh, The Yogi Hraday Kamal is on the way. U wont be able to recognize it easily as a lotus. We went down to see it but there was lot of things written there, we didt read it. Its much better from the top. There is also Akshardham Haat from where u can buy stuff if u like. Vinayak, Sourabh and Amit went inside but i and Aditya stayed outside.

Then we decided to see other side of the temple (yagnapurush kund). But to see there u had to pay some money, but we were short on money. So we just roamed. Then we decided to buy tickets for the Musical Fountain Show which are priced at Rs. 20. I and Aditya went to buy tickets. Staff outside the temple is very good, but inside they are very KHADOOS. ANyways we somehow reached the place to buy tickets. Then we had to phone home to tell that we are going to be late. So we did.

Then we decided to get our photo shot. Now there also we were in two minds whether to have it shot or not. But we decided to have it. First time he clicked, we didnt like the photo, he said the man at the PC told us that we ca have aother one, but the photographer got angry and said that to shot the phot seriously else have the money refunded, Vinayak and i wnted a refund, but we stayed shut. Anywazy we got the photo and brought it home for scaning and editing.

Then we decided to goto Garden. We just sat there and didnt roam much. There people are only allowed to sit on benches and not lay down. I and Sourabh were lying down. Anywayz then Sourabh met his relatives and we just ran away from him. But he evntually found us. The we decided to sit near the Mandir, but Sourabh took the photo to show it to his relatives. We told him we will meet him in 10 mins. We roamed that part of the place which we had not seen earlier and forgot about Sourabh. The when the time of the show was nearing we decided to search for him. We found him and then we went to see the Musical Fountain Show. We reached there 30 mins earlier and it was alrady looking full. Anywayz the show was awesome.

Also there is some boat trip which shows u various stuff, but as i said earlier that we were running short on money, we were not able to see it!! The ticket for it is Rs. 125.

Before leaving we decided to see temple once again in lights, it was awesme. Then we got our shoes, exited, called our homes to ask how to come home. Sourabh went to his relatives house. Vinayak and Amit went back the way they came, Aditya went till Connaught Place and from there he took Metro. I took GL-32 came to Barakhamba Road, and from there took Metro and then called Papa at Metro Station to pick me up. I reached home around 10 PM and Vinayak, Aditya and Amit around 10:30 PM

In all it was an awesome day and also tiring. My legs were aching like hell. And now after having lunch, i m going to Vinayak’s house with Shishu and Babu to play cricket.

Here’s the pic for which we paid 90 bux as i already told u NO ELECTRONIC ITEMS allowed inside the temple!!! First one is a direct scan of the pic, second one is i edited in PS. From left: Sourabh, Vinayak, Amit, Me and Aditya.
