Its damn easy, u dont have to do a thing. Believe me, u DONT evn have to SIGN the APPLICATION FORM, the call centre guyz do it for u.
It started aroud 4-5 months back. My Bua (aunt) started getting calls from HDFC Bank to take their Credit Card (CC). I usually picked up the phone. I alwayz said no, we dont want and blah blah…. Anywayz one day Bua answered the call and she somehow got Bua to agree. Now this guy comes for verification thingies, and asks some docs which my Bua DENIED coz they were supposed to be confidential. So Bua sent the guy back, he left the form with us.
No calls, nothing after that. One day we recieve the CC thru courier. Papa immediately returned it the very next day. And after that Bill started coming month after month. Papa wrote to the manager, but nothing happened. So papa wrote to Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and they settled the case.
Everything fine after that, no bills, nothing for two months. Now today, we recieve a courier from the RBI with a Photocopy of the Form that had my Bua’s Signature. It was the summary of the case. That Bloody, call center girl signed with Bua’s name… how do i know this… Firstly the sign were nowhere similar to Bua’s secondly That Girl RICHA had signed and evn a fool cud tell that she had forged Bua’s sign… The matter stands shut.. i told my family to lodge a complaint, but they have denied it.
I just want u guyz to be alert of such Phone Calls.. I will try to put a scanned copy of the Photocopy of the Application Form that Bank sent us, if my parents allow it.

May 18th, 2006 at 11:53 pm
gosh thats so bad on part of HDFC.
something similar could have happened with my mom as the ICICI agents were kinda forcing her to take the CC. but she was adamant as to not taking the CC.

Every two in 10 calls i get on my phone is related to Credit cards.
Here is my addition on what you need to be careful on though, If you are really intersting in credit cards, never entertain these calls, You can visit the bank’s site and do the formalities.
The DSA’s (Direct selling agents) do not have a clue as to what they are selling really and they just want some numbers to be completed which have been assigned to them, so NEVER entertain these calls, first try a simple I am not interested, if they still pursue click the hook up button of the phone, end of story

I read a recent article on the same thing about credit card calls from some ICICI DSA, the person sued the DSA for harassment, so its time to get up and react if we want to curb these calls.

My sister was issued a supplementary card for her credit card even when she didnt ask for it 80
May 28th, 2006 at 11:16 am
yes, this is one serious issue. often, the bank employees fill in the forms because they get a lot of commission for every CC issued through them. a similar incident occured with my friend as well.
do attach the scan of the form, if you can.

well, I sympathise with you, but I wouldn’t hurry off to label HDFC as the culprit here. the main culprit is that girl who forged the signatures & you should take it up with the bank first or send them a legal notice. its very much possible that the bank doesn’t know about this, since these call center execs are under pressure to make X amount of sales every month, else they get penalised & eventually loose jobs. so obviously some of them resort to these measures when they see that they are not gonna make the target for a month. I’m also an HDFC bank customer & have their CC for more than 18 months, no problems so far, any questions I ever have, they are answred promptly on the helpline at any time of day, I’ve even asked them at 3am in the morning!! & what’s more satisfying for me is that they don’t pad or doctor the CC statements while ICICI is known to do that.
so I would really suggest that you either talk to some officer of high rank in the bank or send a legal notice suing them for fraud & forgery. its a serious crime, & which can be proven easily!! so the bank would obviously not try to challenge you in court unless they have a bunch of morons on their panel of lawyers!!

i will post the how to contact RBI in such cases, lemme ask my dad about the details!!
October 20th, 2006 at 10:47 am
Rajeev, I will suggest you file a FIR with the nearest police station about the threats that you receive from agents of StanChart. Send a copy of the FIR to the bank by Registered Post with a convering letter and threaten them in return of dire consequences if this nonsense doesn’t stop. I have drafted many such letters
so let me know if you need my help. I am not typing my email address here, but Shwetz will be able to give it to you.
I don’t think RBI will take any action
because they may be receiving lots of complaints like this. But still anyway, go ahead and file a complaint with them, just for the record.
All this is just to safe guard your side and have preliminary papers in your hand.

Hi Dear
I recently came to know about some unauthorised transactions from my SBI Credit Card. The moment I came to know about this, I immediately informed my service providers to take necessary actions. So they blocked the card.
Also I have asked them to Raise a Dispute in this case. Please tell me what things i need to follow, i.e. inform RBI and Get the FIR registered with the local Police Station or Inform Cyber Crime Cell, so that the Credit Card Company does not tax me for what I have not done.
Please Reply immediately

You have done the right thing by blocking your card and raising a dispute with the bank.
Going to the police may seem to be right thing in this case, however please don’t expect any results
If your card has been used for online transaction, I suggest going to Cyber Crime Cell. They are more equiped to catch the offender.
If its used offline, you better lodge an FIR with at a regular police station. But if its mis-used in some other city and the amount is small, they won’t bother too much about it. But still lodge it anyway and keep a copy of the FIR in your records.

Hi Mr. Ashish,
I am from Chennai and having a problem with ICICI. They have paid to the LIC from my credit card A/C without my permission. Now when asked, they ask me to contact the LIC for refund. I think I am going to put a lawsuit against them. I want advise.

For 3 weeks i got pestering calls offering me a loan against my car. after the first 4 or 5 calls, i informed them that i own a cycle only only and if they can give a loan of 3 lakhs against my cycle without any obligation on my part to repay, I will accept their offer. after it is not you who has called them for a loan but they who wanted to give you a loan
OR alternatively whey they call you up, talk about the dangers of global warming, dangers of spending when you cant’t pay up, or talk about the 123 clauses in the india-US nuclear agreement etc. Do this 2 or 3 times and you won’t get calls after that
