Yesteray Morn i was installing something, Kaspersky kept popping up asking for permission to modify this and that. So i paused the protection for sometime. After it was installed, i forgot to resume the protection. Then i needed something for a particular software (*ahem*), but since my fav *ahem* site is down, i had to Google for the *ahem*. I found it and downloaded it. I ran it, it didnt run, i ran it again, but again i didnt work. I looked over at Kaspersky and came to senses that i had forgotton to enable protection, and then i knew i had executed an infected file. I quickly enabled Kaspersky, and it started shouting TROJAN. Although it said it has disinfected the comp, but it didnt and after i restarted my comp, no process cud run for longer than 2 mins wen the net was connected. So i formatted the system, although its normal for me to format once in every two weeks, but wen its due to a Virus, Trojan or Worm, i hate to do it. Anywayz, all seems fine now.
Also i want to install Flyakite OSX, but i dont want Spider Solitaire, Solitaire and FreeCell to have their appearences changed, so tell me the files which shud be left out, so that they are NOT affected.
I installed WMP 11, available for download at Softpedia, the version is Pre-Release one but is quite stable, no hangs/crashes for me till now.
Also i m now doing lot of Orkutting, more than blogging and foruming… seem to enjoy it.
I will not call it stupidity…as it can happen with anybody. These antiviruses are so bloated that sometimes one needs to disable their protection. Forgetting to resume protection was completely forgivable…:) Well it might have been a learning experience for you … Do not forget to reesume protections if you have delibrately paused them.
Maybe the bloatedness of AV’s has kept me for installing any AV’s on my system. If with an AV you format it every 2 weeks then I am far better than you because I last formatted my PC in Jan 2006!!!!
Its true with a Windows XP Pro and 256MB RAM only.
First rule, never d/l a gen that comes unzipped, that is, dont d/l any tool that comes in .exe form from *ahem* sites… If its a ZIP then 90% you are safe
About OSX-e, am trying to figure out which DLL it is, will get back to you when I do so
Am not entirely sure (didnt test) but try not installing the “Cards.dll” patch. That prevents it from changing the card deck styles under all windows card games.
Hmm… I have never touched a AV for over 2 years. Lol.. I forgot how to “use” it also.
thnx qwerty.. i already figured it out… but thnx for helping
Since when have u become The Spam Man!!!! Shwetanshu?
both of ur comments here landed up in akismet as spam posts
my ip range is banned by akismet, so my comments go down as SPAM, and due to this Riyaz (desertwind) gave me the name SPAM MAN
Hail the spam man (Dont let your comp become a spam generator by those trojans tho
)
I am not using Antivirus from 3 years.and quite loving it…..
And congrats on becoming Mr. SPAM MAN!!!!!!
I m thinking of changing my name to Spaminator?? wat say guyz/gals??
