As most of cricketing community knows, India’s tour of Pakistan is going on in which we play 3 tests and 5 ODIs (i think). Now the first test match was held at Lahore (match coverage), which witnessed a huge scoring match in which rain gods interfered most times of the play and whih ended in a lame draw.
But more than rain gods there was the pitch that was the cause of controversy. Well, the pitch was a complete plain one, like a cement pitch on which we kids play. Now Inzy had been saying b4 the tour, that he wanted a grassy pitch. Now where does in world the home pitch is not prepared according to the home team’s wishes (except in India, PROOF). Imran Khan, former pakistan Captain, also asked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to give a satisfactory answer so as to y did they prepare such a pitch whch provided no support for bowlers and was a batsman’s pitch. This only proved that Inzy was afraid of Indian bowling attack and he wanted to be on the defensive, but his plan backfired wit a big jolt. Pakistan made 679/7 and India made 410/1 with Sehwag again making the mockery of Pak bowling attack along with giving good replies to Pak bowlers sledging.
The best part was Inzy said that he wanted to know y Picth curator made such a pitch, but an enquiry set up by PCB sayz Inzy *may* had a say, the way Pitch turned out to be. But the pitch is no different in the second match with a very little grass. Also against England, the pitch was made for bowlers, coz Pak had a superior bowling attack than the England, and hence this again proves wat i had said earlier…..
After wat happened in the first match, i dont feel like watching the series with Pakistan playing on the defensive. And yeah, Sourav is out of the second test. HT dated Jan 22, 2006 carries a photo of Saurav Ganguly walking along the drinks trolley. The pic made me remember the time wen he refused to be the 12th man (see here). serves him right. As u all know i m ANTI-GANGULY.
