Yo guyz, India was able to level the series with SA after a shameful defeat in the last match at kolkata (see here). The match saw some of the outstanding all round display by india ever. The bowling and fielding was tight, batting was also gr8. India won the match by 5 wickets, with Rahul Dravid becoming the Man of the Match. Graeme Smith and Yuvraj Singh sharing the honours for Man of the Series (MoS). MoS prize was Ford Fiesta. Scorecard.
The best thing apart from the Indian all round display was the crowd. The crowd was absolutely awesome. They cheered throughout the match. Be it SA or India, they were cheering for both. Probably they were cheering for SA, coz they didnt want SA to post a low score for India to chase. The crowd acknowledged Kallis’s Half Century. They cheered for India throughout the second innings. Even dravid thanked the crowd by clapping for them with hs bat and hand immdeiately after India won the match.
And then there was crowd of Kolkata where the last match was held. The crowd was absolutely ******. Nobody had expected this from the city which praised Dravid and Laxman, wen batting against Australia who were considered favorites. But Ganguly’s omission from the ODI team as well as his captaincy being taken away, all things changed. Kolkatians were very angry with everyone related to Indian Team. Ok, Chappell was expected to face lot of “boos” and foul words from the kolkatians, he was even adviced to stay in the Hotel Room only.
But it was “boos” for Indian Team that made all the difference. On top of it, the pitch curator showing his anger for Ganguly episode made the grassiest pitch ever. The pitch is prepared keeping the home team in mind, but this time it was the other way round.
Nothing was going India’s way and then India lost the toss and were put into bat. In such games, toss decides the winner and wen india lost the toss, they lost the match. Soon India crumbled on Bowlers pitch and we were staring at the scorecard at 35-5. But it was the attitude of ppl that made more difference. Wen dravid came out to bat he was playing cautiously, but Langeveldt got him. At this moment crowd strted celebrating, shouting slogans as dravid walked back to the pavillion. They were enjoying as if SA batsmen got out. They behaved like P******n and B********h.
Their luv for Ganguly made them blind. Did they forget that Dravid, the “wall” of Indian Crcicket who had served Indian Cricket for so long defended Ganguly throughout his career. Did they forgot that this man is Captain of our Indian Cricket Team and he defeated SL 6-1.
Eden Garden and Kolkatians must have lost repsect from most of the cricketing community, atleast they did lose respect from me.
