Well guyz today after a lot of hard work i finally got the Harry Potter & Goblet of Fire game DVD from my frnd. Its a huge 1.89 GB install. I must say that i expected a far better product than this from EA Games. I started the game for the first time, it asked me language, whether i want subtitles on or off and wheter autosave on or off. I agreed to all this. Then Warner Bros logo, then Warner Bros Entertainmennt Logo and EA Games. U have to go through the above said each and everytime u start the game. Now thats very very annoying.
Then it zooms on Goblet of Fire kept in Hogwarts Great Hall and then u have to scroll which option u want to choose. New Game, Load Game, Option, Quit.
In the options menu u only get options for subtitles, and autosaves to turn on or off. No audio, video or gameplay option. Although developers have provided a Controller Configuration Utility if u have joystick or gamepads. But there shud be some provision for customizing the controls. Now the camera view is really absurd, the movement of character is really difficult to control. Like in the previous three games, camera was on the back of the head, but this time its almost diagonally on top, like wen we view a 3D model from all sides. Then in previous games, ALT key was used for wand and its movement cud be controlled either by mouse or arrow keys, but now every action has its own key, For key assignment, read the README provided.
There are some major changes in this game. Now blue beans give u more energy, almost everything has beans now, u have to select either Harry, Ron & Hemione b4 the start of every level. U can use Accio Charm to summon things like rewards and pumpkins. Each Pumpkin raises ur health level by 10%, max being 100. U dont go into tasks alone, u r always accompanied by other two. Reason being, the creatures that u face cannot be defeated alone. In previous games, chocoloate frogs raised ur energy level instantaneously, but now they are like lives. Once ur health becomes 0, a chocolate frog is used. So the more u collect, better it is. Each spell used for killing of creatures is now under JINX. Jinx is auto optimized for a particular creature. Spells which can be used for pulling things like opening of gate are now under Charm. Then there is summon charm. And a shield which can be activated on collecting certain amount of bans. i m not sure of it though. Each charm/jinx has its own difficulty level.
Back to the game. On selecting NEW GAME, i get Harry, Ron & Hermione. I have to select one of them. i selected Hermione. hehehe. Then the game starts with the story of Riddle house and blah blah, i skipped it coz i had already seen the movie as well as read the book. We sart playing wen the Death Eaters have attacked after the quidditch match, and there is chaos everywhere. the task that we face is that we have to find the PORTKEY. On our way we face a frog like character, which eats our health and we have to jinx them. Also there are death eaters who r creating destruction. Then there is Mr. Weasely who keeps on apparating wherever there are rocks or logs blocking the way to help us. We somehow reach PORTKEY.
Before the begining of second level, the game again asks us to select a character. i again choose the same ;-). Then again the cutscene comes up, which i again skip. In the second level starts, we have to meet Mad Eye Moody for xtra lesson of Defence Against the Dark Arts. Here he tells us to jinx a bucket. on doing so it pops up some beans and then the prof tells about the beans. After that he tells to go thru a door. Then there are those frog like creatures, lots of em.
After completing the level, then champions are chosen, and moody tells harry to find Triwizard shield, to enter the first task. Then there are other fire breathing creatures, who we have to kill to advance further and get the shield. I have reached till there and now i m writing about the game.
The graphix are good, not stunning. The game loads quickly on my compy. No now loading stuff, like in previous versions. The characters are very similar to those shown in the movie. Sound effects are so so, coz i like loud music, but game settings wont let me adjust to my convenience. Developers cud have done more work on Hermione, Ron and Harry look gr8.
The game is so boring and easy, i cant play it longer than 15 mins.
By the look of the game till now, i advice u not to go for this game. I think, The EA games guyz have done a very immaturish job. Loox like they were sleeping and then wen the deadline came near, they woke up and tried to wrap up things as soon as possible, which resulted as a crappy game. But if u r a Die Hard HP fan like me, no harm in going for this game. Its not very bad. i rate it 4/10.
Instead of HP & GoF, buy NFS: MOST WANTED, which is nxt on my list and is getting some gr8 reviews from everywhere.

Thanx buddy, was looking for it. i wass going to buy the ORIGINAL copy of the game, guess i will satisfy myself with NFS: MW
