Well day b4 yesterday i downloaded google talk based on the Jabber protocol however instant messaging members of other clients doesn’t appear to be supported. There’s no Linux or Mac client yet, but there are guides to connecting to the protocol on iChat, Gaim, and Trillian. I installed it the day i dl it but i started using it only yesterday. I was very happy with its small download size. U need to have a GMAIL account for chatting. If u need one mail me at shwetanshus@gmail.com. On using it, i found it was ok for simple chatting. To be honest i expected a far better product than this from the google. Well GMAIL at first was same with nothing, but now it is considered the best service, may be the same will happen with google talk. As the name suggests it, is very good for voice chatting, but for text chatting, there is room for lot of improvements. Many ppl are angry with this product coz of not many features. Many are saying: “Welcome to the Stoneage of Msngr”. Hope Google is listening and has started already working on it.
There are some secret parameters that allow you to change the way the program runs. The most important I think it is /nomutex, which allows to open more than one instance; You can either sing in twice with the same user.
These are the others:
/forcestart, /autostart, /register, /checkupdate,
/nogaiaauth, /plaintextauth,
/factoryreset, /gaiaserver, /mailto, /create_sesion.
One more intersting secret that i forund on the net was this:
In the about box (right click the taskbar icon) there should be this play 23 21 13 16 21 19 . 7 1 13 5 substitute letters for numbers and you get “wumpus.game” add this to to your freinds list minus the quotes and play an old irc game! Its a bot, so after adding him to ur frnds list, just start chatting to it, like saying Hi!.
Well it did work for some and for some did not. Best Of Luck, it worked for me.
